Sauna
Your own private Finnish sauna, spa and ice bath — exclusively yours with an overnight stay in the glamping yurts.
For more than a thousand years the banya has been the Slavic way to wash, heal, rest and gather — wood-fired steam, a cold plunge, and long conversation in between. We've brought that ritual, unchanged in spirit, to the Victorian Alps.
A place to connect, socialise and have a good time, where everyone is equal: no titles, no pretence.
Our aim is simple — to help people feel better in body and mind, whether you live in the valley or you're here for the weekend.
Today The Banya Place is a small family-run beginning — two properties in the Alpine valleys — with a much bigger dream behind it.

A traditional steam banya built from Canadian western red cedar logs in the hills of Mount Beauty. A 1.5-tonne firewood heater breathes soft, dense steam; between steams there's the infinity pool, the spa and the ice bath, with uninterrupted views of Mt Bogong.
For groups of 1–12, guided by the steam master. Private sessions from three hours — because the ritual cannot be rushed. A special-occasion banya for groups of friends and family; the social, per-person sessions are coming to Bright.

Social sessions, private bookings, parenie and sauna sessions for your events at our Bright property. Session dates are announced on Instagram first.

Lower temperatures, rich soft steam, and the venik ritual — one of the world's oldest bathing traditions, explained.
A session works the heart and blood vessels much like a brisk walk.
Heat loosens tight muscles after the trails, the slopes or the bike.
The cool-down after a banya evening is the body's own sleep signal.
Soft, humid steam opens the skin and the airways.
Heat makes you slow down; the plunge is followed by a settled calm.
The banya glow — lighter, clearer, quietly happy.
Three hours with nothing to achieve except the next steam.
The long conversation by the fire is part of the health story.
Heat, cold and rest — the oldest wellness routine there is, and still the best.

“Three hours in the Log Banya and I slept like I hadn't in years. The heat is deep and slow, the ice bath is a shock in the best way, and the mountains do the rest.”
“The parenie was something else — I walked out lighter, calmer and completely clear-headed. Not a quick sauna. A proper ritual.”
“Came off Mount Bogong wrecked, left the banya loose and warm and ready to do it again. Best recovery I've had in the Alps.”
One world-class public bathhouse in the Australian Alps — real fire, soft steam, cold water and rest, in the valley that already restores people. Follow the journey as the plans take shape.
