You came for the mountains. Finish in the banya.
Bright and Mount Beauty fill with groups who have earned their evening: riders off Mystic and the rail trail, hikers down from Feathertop and Bogong, trail runners, paddlers, pilots, skiers from Hotham and Falls Creek. A private banya session is the way to end a day like that — three hours of heat, steam, cold water and fire, with your own group and nobody else.
Legs stop aching, heads go quiet, and the stories come out around the firepit. It is recovery and celebration at the same time — and, for a group, the best bit of the whole weekend.

Heat loosens what the trail tightened; the cold brings inflammation down and the blood back; the next steam feels twice as deep. Most people sleep like a log afterwards.
Three hours is how long it takes the body to move through heat, cold and relaxation more than once — and for the nervous system to switch from alert to recover.
Banya is a group ritual: everyone equal, no phones, the steam master setting the pace. The talking happens at the firepit, the tubs and over tea — not over a screen.
Not a hot box. A ritual.
A banya is a wood-fired steam room: a heavy cast-iron heater with an enclosed chamber of rocks at 600–700 °C, and water thrown onto those rocks to make huge amounts of light, overheated steam. The room sits at 60–80 °C — gentler than a dry sauna, but the steam goes deeper. You take it in rounds: steam, then the cold tub, then the fire or the spa, then again.
Every session is guided by a steam master, opens with an Aufguss — infusions, scent and moving heat — and can include parenie, the venik treatment with oak leaves that guests remember for years. None of it is rushed: that is the point.

Tell us about your group
Send the request below: where and when, how many of you, what you have been doing in the valley and anything we should know. We reply personally with availability and a quote.

We shape the session around you
A steam master runs your session — the Aufguss opening, the rounds, parenie treatments or a venik lesson if you want them, the heat set for the group in the room, from first-timers to the hardened.
- 3
Your three hours — or more
Steam, cold tubs, the spas, the firepit. Bring your own food for the BBQ and your own drinks; we provide tea, water, felt hats and the fire. Private sessions are a minimum of three hours — the ritual needs the room.

Stay on
In Bright, your first night's camping is included with the session; stay longer by request, take the Pyramid rooms when they open, or book The Cabin — all on the property. In Mount Beauty, the yurts are a few steps from the Log Banya.

Two banyas, two valleys.

In the Ovens Valley. The container banya under the pines: 1.5-tonne wood-fired heater, two plunge tubs at 18 °C and 6 °C, two spas at 37 °C and 41 °C, outdoor showers, the swing and the firepit — and the Pyramid lounge for cold or wet days. Room for larger groups once open. Minutes from the centre of Bright.

How big can the group be?
Private sessions at the Log Banya in Mount Beauty are for up to 12 people (the spa takes eight at a time). The Bright banya, once open, can take larger groups — tell us your numbers and we will tell you what works.
How long is a session?
A minimum of three hours — long enough for several rounds of heat and cold with real relaxation between them. Four or five hours suit bigger groups or a parenie for everyone.
Can we bring food and drinks?
Yes — bring your own food for the gas BBQ and your own drinks. We provide tea and water. Go easy on alcohol before the heat; the steam master will tell you why.
Does anyone need experience?
No. The steam master guides every round and sets the heat for the room; first-timers and children (with an adult) get a gentler steam. Tell us about your group in the form.
Can a banya session be part of our event?
Yes — and it is one of the most unforgettable things you can put in a programme. Tell us about the event, the numbers and the timing and we will build a session at the Log Banya or, once open, the Bright banya around it.
What if it rains?
The banya is better in the rain. In Bright, the Pyramid lounge — projector, sofas and a bioethanol fire pit — covers the cold and wet; at the Log Banya, the lounge room does.
Can we stay the night?
In Bright: the first night's camping is included with your private session (more nights by request); or book The Cabin, or the Pyramid rooms when they open. In Mount Beauty: the yurts are beside the Log Banya.
How far ahead should we book?
For weekends and groups over eight, two to four weeks is comfortable; we will always try for less. Send the request and we reply personally.
